Animal abuse-A cause worth fighting for

Animals. What are animals though? All living beings which eat, breathe, move and reproduce are animals. We too are animals. Then what's the difference between homo sapiens and other species? Well, our brain evolved and we got something called "common sense ". Slowly, man evolved to be a social animal. Concepts like humanity came into existence.

But let's be honest, what's the use of this humanity when we are becoming wild animals ourselves? We are exploiting the other species on earth to our satisfaction, mercilessly.

Humans have a tendency, we hate and ignore the things we can't comprehend...and we are always power hungry that the other species on this earth are regarded as insignificant beings. In olden days, animals used to co-exist with humans, while we treated them as equals. Our Sanatana dharma is based on the basic principle of virtue of kindness.

Nowadays, we are sadly getting news articles saying, pregnant elephant in kerala fed with an explosives stuffed pineapple, cow's jaw burst in UP by a kid who fed it a firecracker concealed in hay, pet dogs brutally hung to a fish hook while alive and flogged mercilessly by miscreants...countless incidents like these happen even while you are reading this. It just takes a lot of time to come out.

Not everybody is familiar with the fact that even cows, buffaloes and dogs are murdered for their hide, especially in China. Tails are chopped off and chili pepper is thrown into their eyes. They starve them, torture them and then murder them in the slaughterhouses.

Let's come to India. Animals are slaughtered for religion. The priests call it sacrifice. Well, I wanna ask one thing. Did the gods call you or sent you a text that they want chicken tomorrow for the fest? Why the heck would they want their creations to be killed for them? This has been bugging me since I saw a steady stream of blood in a jatara, when I was young. They bring in a goat, or a hen, and apply some vermilion on its head, and then chop it down in a single blow as mantras were chanted. Is that all REALLY NECESSARY??
Well, section 28 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act, 1960, says its a crime to kill animals for pleasure, entertainment or religious purposes.

Countless reports of animals beaten, tortured, raped, murdered have been reported since ages old. All we did meanwhile was share them and forget them after a month or so. But is it doing them justice?? Well, to a particular extent, yes.

It's not just about sharing. It's about to whom are we sharing. Are we sharing it to the right person who needs to see this?

Next. How to stop this? What efforts can be put from our side?... I have a few points.

•Don't be afraid of animals wherever you are. If you are afraid, the youngsters near you learn to grow afraid of stray dogs.

•try to feed a dog, cat, cow, or even a pigeon if you can and check it out for yourself. They stay loyal to you and remember you for the rest of your life.

•if you're scared of them, atleast keep extra rice, foodgrains, or a bowl of water in your balcony, or simply infront of your gate. It's the least you can do.

•Inculcate good habits and mannerisms to the youngsters around you to prevent them from harming animals.

This is just a message which is a voice for those voiceless souls be exploited mercilessly.

I hope this reaches out to as many people as possible...
